Favorite Sunrise/Sunset Spots in Bali, Indonesia
The Indonesian island of Bali is filled with amazing photo spots stretching from volcano views, amazing beaches, monkey forests, or jungle temples. Here’s a couple of my favorites as well as some photo angles to give you inspiration for your next Balinese photoshoot!
Tegallalang Rice Terrace
One of the most famous locations just north of Ubud are these wonderful rice terraces, and when in full bloom, produce a dreamy and rich green wonderland. Make sure you go when the rice is in season, and sunrise is the best!
There is a small fee of around 20,000 Rupia ($1.36), and you can also donate to the workers for allowing you to take photos in their fields. Make sure to stay on the pathways and not to step down on the rice plants.
The winding pathways wander through the hills, revealing amazing angles around every bend. Since you are in a type of “valley,” I recommend going in the morning, since for sunset the sunlight doesn’t reach down as well to give you that golden shot.

Sukawana Sunrise Spot
Your Bali photoshoot wouldn’t be complete without some shots from Sukawana Sunrise Spot in the northern part of the island. It gives an incredible overlook of Mt. Batur, and if you’re lucky, Mt. Agung too!
The restaurant has wooden/bamboo overlooks built out over the valley, making it a perfect place to take in the early morning colors and views.
You can either choose to stay the night in the northern region to make your sunrise trip easier, or you can drive ~ 2 hours from Canggu in the very early morning.
Another great activity to do if you’re in the northern region around Mt. Batur is to actually climb it! You can hire a local guide and the hike will take you around 2 hours one way. Watch out for the monkeys at the top trying to steal your breakfast!

Karang Boma Cliff
We can’t forget about the southern part of Bali! Uluwatu is typically home to the surfers due to the large waves and beautiful water, but it also has come of the most amazing sea cliffs you’ll ever see. Karang Boma Cliff is only about a 1 to 1.5 hour drive from Canggu, a perfect half day drip for sunset.
The hike is very easy as well - less than 10 minutes of walking!
With beautiful blue water below you, endless blue sky around you, and the wonderful feeling of adventure that Bali provides, this is a sunset you don’t want to miss.
